I'm a versatile writer and editor with more than 20 years of experience in writing, copyediting and proofreading, publication management, public relations, media relations and similar fields. I'm 41 years old and single, living in Baton Rouge, La., with my three cats. Cats are one of my major interests and loves.

I am also interested in healthcare issues, particularly arthritis. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at age 21, and I am dedicated to helping other people learn about the disease. I was on the board of directors of my local arthritis organization, the Arthritis Association of Louisiana, for many years, doing a lot of pro bono PR work for them.

Of course, I do a lot of reading, research and writing about public relations. I maintain a couple of websites on PR topics, including one focused on how to write a communications plan.

I've been a writer since I could hold a crayon. Today I write and edit for a living in the corporate communications department of a major health insurance company. I also write fantasy and sci-fi short stories and poetry for fun. Two of my poems have been nominated for a Rhysling Award by the members of the Science Fiction Poetry Association. My first published fiction book, a children's fantasy graphic novel called The Quest for Dragon Mountain, was published in 2010.

I am a voracious reader. I have a wide range of interests, but a particular current area of focus is World War I. I read about cats and general pet care, arthritis and chronic illness, and a lot about politics and general history. I also like to read fantasy and science fiction, current bestsellers and classic literature, especially American lit. Some of my favorite authors are Stephen King, J.R.R. Tolkien, Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, C.J. Cherryh, Diana Gabaldon and Robert Heinlein.

Other likes: computers, needlepoint and other crafts, watching TV, movies, music.

Favorite TV shows: Law & Order, House, Bones, Battlestar Galactica, news shows, medical shows, History Channel

Favorite movies: Amadeus, Gladiator, The Silence of the Lambs

Favorite musicians: Peter Gabriel, Sting, U2, REM, XTC, Loreena McKennitt, many others
